Preppin' Preppies Program Objectives

One.

Positive dispossitions for learning.

This program is designed to foster positive dispositions for learning such as resilience, creativity, persistence, enthusiasm, concentration and imagination. The children will engage in both structured and non-structured learning experiences, where they will be supported by facilitators to develop a strong and positive relationship with learning.

Two.

Emotional recognition and regulation.

Children will be supported to recognise and regulate their emotions in a safe and appropriate manner. There will be a focus on both their own emotions as well as the emotions of others in the space. Throughout the program, children will be supported to recognise their emotions, provided strategies to regulate their emotions, and will engage in mindfulness learning experiences.
This program uses the Zones of Regulation to support this learning for children. Education on the Zones of Regulation and strategies to support children will be provided to parents to continue this learning outside of the program and to ensure a shared language amongst key stakeholders for the child.

Three.

Social skills

The children in the program will be supported to develop the skills of initiating and joining in play with others. They will be supported by facilitators to engage in positive social interactions and provided opportunities to engage in small group play, turn taking games, and free play with each other.

We view all children as unique and capable individuals. Throughout this program we support children to celebrate themselves, and recognise their individuality as strengths. The children will be supported to develop a strong sense of identity and feel proud of themselves and their individual achievements.
